Best Organic And Natural Makeup Brands Of 2020

Here’s why and how I’ve started using organic and natural makeup.

Despite fashion trends and what cosmetics magazine promote, you’ll always have the choice of whether to wear make-up or not.

However, recent research indicates that wearing makeup does have its benefits.

Nowadays, makeup is used not just to look beautiful, but also to boost self-esteem and confidence.

Yet, very few pay attention to the impact of makeup on health and wellbeing.

Most of us use the same makeup brands our parents and friends have been using without further research.

On a close inspection, you’ll realise that most of those makeup products are stuffed with harmful gunk and impurities that impact our health.

That’s why I’ve decided that it is time for me to stop putting horrible things on my body.

And I urge you to do the same thing.

Today, I’ll give you five reasons why making a change to organic and natural makeup is the right thing to do.

Why Organic Makeup?

With the extensive scale of information available to us today, we are much better equipped to decide whether the makeups we use are safe or not.

There’s a growing awareness, towards the products we buy and use on our skins.

Not only how they make us look, but what are they made of.

Products like stone, white lead, chalk, arsenic, cat-dung, vinegar, animal-fat, mercury, nitric acid, and belladonna remain some of the toxic and very harmful materials we still apply on our faces, hair, and body, without even knowing it.

Then, some makeup products are manufactured from synthetic materials or chemicals which also harm your skin, and general health in the long run.

Here are the main reasons why you should only invest in organic and natural makeup brands.

1. No Harsh Chemicals In Natural Makeup

Most non-organic makeups are made from chemicals that are harmful to the endocrine system.

The top perpetrators are phthalates and parabens, linked to infertility, cancer, and type II diabetes.

Moreover, there are cases when ingredients in makeup are not declared on the label if they are supposed ‘trade secrets’.

But, not knowing what’s in your makeup is even worse than knowing.

Fortunately, most natural makeup brands are paraben-free, without synthetic ingredients, phthalates, talc, or other hazardous ingredients in their products.

If not convinced, here are five simple reasons why you should change to organic and natural makeup as well.

2. Soothe Your Skin

Another reason to use organic and natural makeup comes from their skin ageing benefits.

Face skin becomes sensitive in time.

Caused by sun exposure, loss of elastin, ageing, but also the constant build-up of harmful ingredients from bad makeups.

Your skin will react to harmful products with redness, rashes, or irritation, even at a young age.

On the opposite, natural makeup will soothe your skin as it does not have irritating ingredients like propylene glycol, petrolatum, or sodium lauryl sulfate.

3. Turn Back Time

The Fountain of Youth is yet undiscovered, but natural makeup can help turn back time and make skin look younger.

Chemicals in traditional makeup will damage skin and cause premature ageing and even wrinkles.

There is oxidative damage increase when you layer harsh chemicals, dry out skin, and starve cells of oxygen.

Natural products will have organic and food-grade ingredients to rejuvenate and revitalise.

Some natural ingredients include aloe vera, water, and coconut oil.

Indeed, natural makeup with aloe vera helps with eczema, acne, and psoriasis.

Wouldn’t it be nice to reduce breakouts with your daily makeup routine?

4. Protect From Sunlight

Ageing Sun exposure is the number one ageing factor to date.

Moreover, when combined with cosmetics chock full of toxic elements, ageing accelerates.

On the other hand, minerals found in organic makeup give your skin natural sun protection.

Organic makeup also contains antioxidants such as vitamin C for further protection and base SPF protection by default.

5. Peace of Mind – Organic Makeup

Animal testing is one of the darker sides of makeup creation.

However, animal testing is not necessary for makeup success.

By using natural products, you are becoming a force for good.

Veganism, cruelty-free movement, sustainability, we all have to take part.

By using natural makeup products, you are kind, not just to your skin but also to animals.

What Does Natual Makeup Contain?

In the past, organic makeup products were perceived as cheap and of poor quality when compared to their synthetic counterparts.

But with better R&D, marketing, and the understanding we have now about our bodies, animals, and the environment, that perception has changed.

And also, the early days of organic makeups saw it drawn in an ocean of greenwashing.

But now, all organic makeup products must be certified and composed of natural ingredients.

Must be animal-free, with no chemicals, preservatives, dyes, synthetic fragrances, petroleum, and so on.

So the question is: why apply chemicals to your precious, delicate skin when there are thousands of natural products to complement and enhance your natural beauty, now in the 21st century?

Yes, organic makeup is comparatively costlier, but in the long-term, the additional expenditure (or investment) will benefit your pocket, skin and health.

Apart from protecting and nourish your body, organic makeups preserve the environment and animals alike.

As a word of care, organic products won’t last as long as synthetic alternatives.

That’s because all-natural products do not have chemical and preservatives in their composition.

That’s why, if you decide to use organic makeup, make sure you always choose the most reliable and well-established brands.

However, while organic makeups may not be as long-lasting as the chemical ones, you don’t have to worry about refreshing your look as many times as you do with the artificial ones.

You can keep them longer on your skin, without the fear of red spots, clogged pores or allergic reactions to some health-threatening toxins.

And if you already are a conscious consumer that’s taking care of her inner health and harmony every day, with vegan food and meditations, here’s the next challenge for you.

Let organic makeup take care of your outer self, and become the person you always wanted to be — a force for yourself, animals, and nature.
