Waterproof Clothing Collection By Okewa From Recycled Plastic Bottles. Okewa, a New Zealander waterproof clothing brand has launched a new fashion collection made from 100% recycled plastic bottles. After Okewa’s project succeeded on Kickstarter, the company’s innovative waterproof clothing line is ready for pre-ordering.
The coats are all two-layered, waterproof, breathable, and each one cleans up something between twenty-two and thirty-one plastic bottles from the environment.
Okewa makes the fabric by shredding and melting the plastic bottles into pellets. Then it turns pellets into yarn, yarn into thread and thread into its innovative fabrics that are being waterproof by the lamination process.
All the Okewa’s unique fabrics are being produced in Bluesign-approved mill, a Switzerland-based environmental accreditation programme that ensures high environmental performance standards across textile supply chains.
In this collection, Okewa, by combining an innovative way of thinking and the latest technology, showcases the possibilities of reducing environmental footprint without sacrificing the quality or aesthetics of the products.
You can pre-order your environmental-friendly waterproof clothing here. The company has promised to deliver the pre-ordered products by the end of November.
