For Ganit Goldstein Shifted Craft collection, Ganit has drawn inspiration from past times in Japan, where she learned – at the Tokyo University of the Arts – traditional dying techniques for IKAT weaving.

“We are breaking new ground for using such innovative methods to create fashion. To showcase the real potential of 3D printing, I wanted to make the entire collection ‘ready-to-wear'”, said Goldstein.

Ganit aims for fully sustainable production, as her approach is complemented with 3D scans of the human body, which are then turned into actionable patterns with the help of parametric design and numerical codes.

The digital models can be 3D printed directly onto fabrics, to create custom-made apparel, and reduce material waste to a minimum.

We hail Ganit for her endeavours at the intersection with fashion! After five years of watching the landscape of 3D printing emerge and evolve, we believe that this technology has reached maturity, and foresee exciting times for fashion by pushing the boundaries of traditional manufacturing and design.
