Samsung Gear S2 Update – Important Features And Design Changes
Even though Samsung Gear S2 is not an Android Wear watch, it is a leader in the category of compatible smartwatches with your Android smartphone, outside Google’s platform.
According to a recent leak, the South Korean company is preparing a Samsung Gear S2 update, that improves the overall capabilities of the watch, and there are many images available, showcasing the new watch features and UI changes.
The upcoming Samsung Gear S2 update brings some new features such us custom photos for the background, watch face suggestions, and a standalone experience that lets you install watch apps without having to use a smartphone.
Samsung Gear S2 Update – Design Tweaks and Standalone App Store
On the existing software, the only way to install apps is via the “Get more apps” screen. From there, you have to click on the quick apps shortcut that opens the Galaxy Apps on your phone and only from there you can install a new app on your watch.
However, with this new OS update, you can just swipe to the right on your watch screen to find a series of Samsung recommended apps that you can install with just a tap.
Apart from the new way of installing apps on your watch, Samsung brings some interesting design changes to the weather and world clock apps; the clock face – in the world clock app – turns dark at night time and lights up again during the day. More than that, tapping on the time in a particular geographical location, gives you the sunrise and sunset information for the time zone you are currently in.
Another major addition that’s coming with this new Samsung Gear S2 update lets the user create watch faces by using personal pics, stored on their smartphones.
You can choose from up to 10 images that are going to be displayed every time you wake up the S2 screen, in no particular order. More than that, you can choose between either a digital or analogue face.
Last but not least, the new Samsung Gear S2 update comes with a new re-designed menu for notifications and also lets you start/stop the stopwatch via the S Voice app rather than swiping on the screen.
