The fast adoption of vegan leather across the several industry seems to create profound market changes.

According to Grand View Research, by the end of 2025 there will be a global market of ‘vegan leather’ worth approximately 100 billion USD.

Constant material innovations in the realm of leather alternatives has led to the creation of this market, that’s catering to cruelty-free and eco-friendly consumers.

Vegan Alternatives In Auto Industry

Made from organic raw materials such as discarded pineapple leaf fibres, apple skin, orange peels and mushrooms, ‘vegan leather’ is a general term that describes leather-mimicking materials.

According to the study, the bulk growth of the vegan leather market will be driven by the auto manufacturers.

The next major contributors to the accelerated growth of vegan leather market are the footwear, accessories, and furniture industries.

Vegan Furniture?

Iconic luxury furniture makers, such as Bentley, Fendi and Brabbu, are adapting to the growing consumer demand for cruelty-free products.

It works by replacing animal leather elements with vegan leather alternatives, on both, classic and new products.

“The number of enquiries asking for classic furniture creations and styles – without animal-leather – astounds us. For that, we want to end the use of animal-based products, be that leather, glues or foam, by the end of 2020,” said Alfredo Alvares, sales director at Thomas Blakemore.

Vegan Leather Shoes

The study also shows that by 2025 the vegan leather footwear market will make up to 73 per cent of all shoes.

The study concludes by pointing out to the emergence of a global vegan leather market, poised to take over several industries over the next five years.
