Remake fashion; more than just a name. The fashion industry remains rife with exploitation – low wages, unsafe conditions and unrest.
Yet, as an industry that creates jobs for over 75 million people with most beneficiaries 18 to 34-year-old women, fashion has the power to become a force for good.
As a generator of colossal wealth and economic prosperity to some, there’s no reason why the fashion industry can’t provide its workers with a safe way out of poverty as well.
Nevertheless, today’s fashion industry remains plagued with abuse, cruelty, and misuse. Fundamental to such problems is the invisibility of workers at various levels, from manufacturing to transportation in the supply chain.
To us, the consumers, purchasing fashion has never been easier. However, not many of you know that behind every garment, there is a supply chain in which millions of women toil on a daily basis.
These unseen and unrecognised voiceless shadows of a global manufacturing system are people just like you: mothers, daughters, children and parents.
What Is ‘Remake’?
A change of perspectives was very much needed and that’s how ‘Remake’ was born. Launched in 2016 as a nonprofit enterprise, Remake’s mission is to make the fashion industry more transparent and turn it into a force for good.
To achieve its goal, Remake creates first-hand fashion documentaries and photo-rich stories that shed light on the women who make our clothes and conscious consumers proud to wear sustainable fashion.
In time, Remake has become an excellent source of stories and advice to help buyers break up with fast fashion.
Moreover, Remake’s excellently curated ‘Sustainable Brands List‘ provides a great source of emerging fashion designers that respect people, animals, and the planet, very relevant to conscious consumers of fashion.
Dress Like A Sustainable Fashion Pro
Over the last five years, sustainability has morphed from a popular buzzword into a need to act if we want the fashion to get better.
For that, it is essential to understand what it means to be sustainable to both, consumers and labels, and how to incorporate it in their everyday choices, products and looks.
Part of the increasing awareness goal, this past fall, Remake has partnered with ‘Role Models Management‘.
The ethical modelling agency helps Remake produce highly inspirational and educational fashion films with the common mission of educating and empowering conscious consumers.
Their latest film, titled ‘10 Ways To Dress Like A Sustainable Fashion Pro‘, is based on Remake’s ‘Guide To Sustainable Fashion‘.
The film’s main role is to cause a change in consumers’ perception and finally break all the stigmas surrounding the choice of sustainable fashion.
After all, as you’ve seen in Remake’s film, your choice for sustainable fashion doesn’t have to be dull, unattainable, or crunchy!

Since its inception, Remake has been urging people to think about those who make our clothes.
For example, Remake’s #WearYourValues campaign has been just as popular as #WhoMadeYourClothes campaign by Fashion Revolution – another platform fighting for a better fashion industry – reaching hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world.
By engaging on strategic partnerships that push for cleaner fashion industry and a better world, the non-profit enterprise aims to ‘remake’ the closets of 1 million women by 2025.
