L’Oréal employees latest development in AI and AR for perfect for hair colouring. At the forefront of innovation in beauty, the French personal care conglomerate has just launched a new tech-infused service.
In collaboration with Google Lens, the new service allows customers to try on new hair colour shades without having to purchase or trying on the physical products on their hair.
With the help of artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented reality (AR) technologies L’Oréal customers can use their smartphone camera in conjunction with Google Lens’s image-recognition app, to ‘try’ (read see) new hair colours.
The whole process is straightforward. To start the AI/AR features, the customers must point the smartphone camera at boxes of L’Oréal products in stores.
Then, Google recognises the product and colour and connects with L’Oréal’s Modiface platform that replicates that particular hair colour just like a live selfie.
