Here’s another vegan wedding coming, of a couple we adore: Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix Are now engaged! 😇
The American actors, producers, and activists Patricia Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix are getting ready to tie the knot.
Three years later, after falling in love on the set of the biblical drama “Mary Magdalene” and we couldn’t be happier for them.
The first time Joaquin and Mara met was on the set of the 2013 sci-fi romance ‘Her’.
Nevertheless, it wasn’t until 2016 when they met again at the filming of ‘Mary Magdalene,’ for the magic to happen.
A Biblical Vegan Wedding
In the movie, Mara plays Mary Magdalene, and Joaquin plays Jesus Christ. Powerful meanings and symbols and we feel it was the biblical spell that has connected the souls of the two, hopefully forever.
The couple got engaged earlier this year, and most of us were expecting the announcement of the wedding at some point in 2020.
But, things got heated when Mara was spotted in Los Angeles carrying a ‘Go Vegan’ bag.
Well, not because of the bag, as we all know both Mara and Phoenix are ardent advocates toward veganism but… because of something on the actress’s left hand.
That Ring Girl! – No Envy Here
Also recognised as ‘The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo’ – following her acting in the movie with the same name – the American actress was spotted recently in Los Angeles wearing an astonishing diamond ring on her left hand.
When asked about it, the star has confirmed the wedding rumours and we couldn’t be happier for her!
Patricia Rooney Mara and Joaquin Phoenix are one of the most loved couples at Hollywood not only for their incredible acting skills but also for their dedication to animal welfare.
At the beginning of 2019, the couple marched for animal rights in Los Angeles. There, side by side, the duo led an animal funeral procession by carrying lifeless bodies of animals.
The ceremony has commemorated trillions of animals we kill every year for fashion, food, scientific research, and even entertainment.
The couple also carried a banner at some point which read: ‘This is how we, the human race, treat animals. Do you want to be part of this?’
Vegan Wedding – Marching For Life
The Grammy and Golden Globe award winner has always been very open about his vegan lifestyle.
In fact, Joaquin has been vegan for over 40 years now. When asked how he became vegan, the American actor shared a heartbreaking story:
“It started with a fishing trip every child would love to go on. It was all fun until they’ve started to stun the caught fish by banging them against the side of the boat” he said.
The event left a profound mark on the mind of the young boy, emotions he couldn’t explain at that time.
“I felt a deep feeling of disgust, shame, and guilt. It felt like an injustice. And, it wasn’t just me who felt it, but all of my siblings” he recalled the moment.
It was an event that had shaped his approach to life forever. The way he sees the world, people, and mother nature.
“That experience alone made me somehow distrustful and frightened of humans. I am, at times, scared of humanity,” he added.
Vegan Wedding – It Is Not Just About Food
Mara is also rising from a very compassionate family towards animals and Similar to her future husband, she holds strong views towards animal welfare.
Together with her sister Kate – who is also vegan – Mara marches to end the use of animals in the fashion industry.
In fact, her sustainable clothing line HIRAETH is an absolute statement to the conscious direction the duo has taken in fashion.

According to Mara, HIRAETH is conscious fashion. A modern brand of fashion apparel and accessories designed with animal, human, and environmental welfare in mind.
“Hiraeth symbolises kindness in everything we do”, she stated.
According to Mara, Hiraeth label was born from their own desire to find and wear conscious fashion.
“I could find cheap faux-leather boots and know they are cruelty-free in the use of animal-based materials sense. However, I couldn’t tell where the products were made, if they were cruel towards humans, or the environment,” she added.
We can only wish the couple a long and happy marriage and massive good luck with Hiraeth, a brand which we deeply feel understands where the future of luxury fashion is going.
